There I was introduced to a new fruit \u2013 <strong>Chico<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4663.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-247\" title=\"IMG_4663\" src=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4663-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4663-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4663-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4663.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I first tasted Chico, I was surprised by its slightly granular texture and wasn\u2019t sure that I wanted to continue eating it. However, I took another bite and delighted in its unique flavor \u2013 a combination of ripe pear and brown sugar. I liked it so much that I encouraged my sister to try one!<\/p>\n<p>I also had the opportunity to taste fresh <strong>Jackfruit <\/strong>for the\u00a0first time. Any time I\u2019ve eaten Jackfruit in New York, I\u2019ve had it coated in syrup from a can or a jar. I always liked it, but I knew Jackfruit would even be better fresh. So when I saw the large fruit being sold at a roadside fruit stand, I bought a piece of it. When I got it to\u00a0the hotel, my mom and my aunt helped to remove the yellow\u00a0flesh from\u00a0the seeds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4601.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-248\" title=\"IMG_4601\" src=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4601-300x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4601-300x216.jpg 300w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4601-1024x740.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4601.jpg 1565w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4604.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-249\" title=\"IMG_4604\" src=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4604-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4604-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4604-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/miancatalano.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/IMG_4604.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This Jackfruit\u00a0had a slightly crisp texture with a\u00a0flavor\u00a0that some people describe\u00a0as banana-like. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, but what I liked even more were <strong>Jackfruit chips<\/strong>! They were crunchy, light, sweet, and not at all oily.
